Rehabilitation and Recommissioning of a Power Barge – 19 × Wärtsilä 18V32 Engines

A power barge equipped with 19 Wärtsilä 18V32 engines, which had remained non-operational for over six years, was successfully rehabilitated and returned to service.

The scope included the restoration of engine systems, auxiliary equipment, and all supporting plant components, including mechanical, electrical, and control systems. All lubrication oil, fuel, and cooling water systems were thoroughly cleaned using flushing methods to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Major overhaul works were carried out where required; however, the primary focus was on full plant rehabilitation and operational readiness.

The power barge was successfully recommissioned, with 72-hour continuous operation tests completed and COD (Commercial Operation Date) achieved.

Installation of 2 × Wärtsilä 18V46 engines as an extension to the existing Aksa KKTC power plant, including supervision of mechanical installation, modification of the common control panel, and commissioning services with full integration into the existing systems.

Since 2019, six major overhauls have been successfully performed on 2 x Wärtsilä 18V34SG engines in accordance with 64K, 80K, and 96K service intervals.
